Destination Weddings

Having a “destination wedding” can be a lot of fun. Just be aware that there’s much to be considered when doing this. The Government of Canada website has lots of helpful information on their website about including legalities, paperwork and logistics for:

• Same-sex marriages

• Travelling abroad to meet a marriage partner

• Marriage documents

• Marriage-related problems or divorce in another country

• Marital crime or fraud

• Preventing your return to Canada.

The best & easiest way to avoid all this is to have your legal marriage performed in Ontario and to then to have your “mock” ceremony and party at your destination.
