Licenced in Ontario Canada
I’m licensed by Ontario’s Office of the Registrar General (ORG) to perform wedding ceremonies in Ontario.
I’m a member of Humanist Canada, who is authorized to train and certify wedding officiants in Ontario. Humanist Canada officiants follow provincial & federal laws, and Humanist Canada’s Code of Ethics.
Since 1996, Humanist Canada has trained and certified wedding officiants for licensing with the ORG, and currently has almost 200 licensed wedding officiants in Ontario, many of whom also perform:
Funerals, memorial services and celebrations of life
Vow renewals and wedding anniversaries
Baby welcoming and child-naming ceremonies
Transgender naming and transition ceremonies
Divorce or parting ceremonies
Many other other “life milestone” ceremonies and celebrations.
So far, Ontario is the only province or territory that allows Humanist wedding ceremonies. More to come!
Humanist Canada
Humanist Canada strives “to create a fair and equal society guided by critical thinking and compassion. We support the efforts of local and regional Humanist groups to advance education in scientific, academic, medical, and human rights fields. We are committed to putting Humanism into practice. Through our ceremonies, outreach, and education programs, we advance free thinking and freedom of choice throughout Canada.”
Humanism
Humanists believe we can live good, meaningful lives by caring for one another, thinking for ourselves, and taking responsibility for our actions. We believe in the goodness people are capable of, in making the most of the one life we know we have, and in treating people with kindness and fairness. Our values are grounded in human experience, compassion, and reason, rather than gods, supernatural forces, or magic.
